Cookie Policy
Last reviewed on April 25, 2026.
This policy explains what cookies and similar technologies UsBankruptcy.net uses, why we use them, and how you can control them. It supplements our Privacy Policy.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, and identifiers used by mobile devices and ad networks. Together they let a site recognize a returning visitor, remember choices, measure traffic, and — for ad-supported sites — show relevant advertising and limit how often the same ad is shown.
Cookies used on this site
1. Strictly necessary
These cookies are required for basic site functionality, such as remembering that you have moved between pages within a session. They do not track you across other sites and cannot be turned off through a preference panel without breaking the site. The site does not currently set any login or shopping-cart cookies because we do not have accounts or transactions.
2. Analytics (Google Analytics 4)
UsBankruptcy.net uses Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-V3EN1ES59G) to understand which pages are read, how readers move through the site, and which articles need improvement. Google Analytics sets cookies in the _ga family and may collect a truncated IP address, device and browser information, and aggregated behavior data. We do not use Google Analytics to identify individual visitors.
You can opt out of Google Analytics on every site by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
3. Advertising (Google AdSense and partners)
Pages on this site display ads served by Google, including through the Google AdSense program, and may also display ads from approved third-party advertisers and ad-tech partners. These services and their partners may set or read cookies, request a device identifier, and use the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework signal where applicable, in order to:
- Serve advertising based on your prior visits to this site or other sites (interest-based or "personalized" advertising)
- Limit how many times you see the same ad (frequency capping)
- Detect and prevent click fraud and invalid traffic
- Measure ad performance and report it to advertisers in aggregate
Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to UsBankruptcy.net and other sites on the internet. You can review Google's documentation at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
4. Functional / preference
If you ever change a preference on the site (for example, dismissing a notice), a small cookie may store that choice so we don't show the same notice on every page. These are not used for tracking or advertising.
Cookies set by embedded content
Some pages link out to third-party services (court websites, government resources, the American Bar Association, the Legal Services Corporation). Following an outbound link takes you to a site we do not control, with its own cookies and privacy practices. Read those sites' policies before sharing information with them.
How to control cookies
Browser controls
Every major browser lets you view, block, and delete cookies. The exact menu name differs by browser, but the path is typically Settings → Privacy / Security → Cookies and site data. You can:
- Block all cookies from third parties
- Block cookies from specific domains
- Delete existing cookies for this site
- Open a "private" or "incognito" window so cookies do not persist after the window closes
Blocking cookies will not break this site, but it will reset your analytics state and may stop interest-based ad personalization.
Ad personalization controls
To control personalized advertising specifically, without blocking all cookies:
- Google Ad Settings — turn off personalized ads across Google services and partner sites at adssettings.google.com.
- YourAdChoices (DAA) — opt out of interest-based advertising from participating U.S. ad networks at optout.aboutads.info.
- Network Advertising Initiative — additional U.S. opt-outs at optout.networkadvertising.org.
- YourOnlineChoices (EU/UK) — European opt-out portal at youronlinechoices.com.
- Mobile devices — reset or limit your advertising identifier in your device settings (iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking; Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads).
Global Privacy Control
Some browsers and extensions send a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal expressing an opt-out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. Where applicable law (for example, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended) recognizes this signal, we treat it as a valid opt-out request from the device sending it.
Children
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly use cookies to build profiles of users under 18. If you believe a child has interacted with the site in a way that resulted in tracking data, please contact us and we will work with the relevant providers to delete it.
Updates to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy when we add, remove, or change the technologies used on the site. The "Last reviewed" date at the top of the page reflects the most recent material change. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
